In a pressurized gasification furnace, under normal operation, due to the high pressure, the space velocity inside the furnace is very low; as a result, the amount of ash carried along is also small. However, during the driving phase, the pressure in the gasifier is not high; due to this low pressure, the space velocity inside the gasifier is high, resulting in a large amount of ash carried along. I think this must be the reason why blockages occur easily. As for how to avoid it, the specific process of the Luzzi furnace is not yet clear; only the general procedure is known. Therefore, no advice can be given.
A large amount of output is definitely the main reason. If this problem persists even while ensuring normal backwashing operation, consider taking measures to reduce the load during operation, control the pressure in the gasification furnace to minimize fluctuations, and raise the lower limit for the coal fed into the furnace, in order to reduce the amount of material carried away!
This is mainly caused by the carryaway of coal powder; during startup, the frequency of backwashing can be increased appropriately. The pressure increase rate should not be too fast – generally, it should be increased at a rate of 0.05 MPa/min. After each increase of 0.1 MPa, the pressure should be held constant for 2 minutes. If the pressure increases too quickly, the pressure drop across the bed layer increases, resulting in more carryaway material. In addition to controlling the rate of load increase, it is necessary to check the quality of the coal fed into the furnace – whether its mechanical properties are poor. If the coal contains too much dust, considering adding screening equipment and curved chutes in front of the furnace might be a good idea
