Some time ago, a coking company contacted us to inquire about cleaning products that would not corrode the equipment while still providing thorough cleaning results. After asking further, we learned that the company needed to clean spiral plate heat exchangers. Due to the special structure of these heat exchangers, chemical cleaning is the only option when scaling occurs; traditional high-pressure water cannot be used for cleaning them. However, the chemical cleaning agents available on the market are not very effective in removing coal tar scale and carbon deposits, and in some cases they can even cause corrosion to the equipment. Once there is a leak inside a spiral plate heat exchanger, it cannot be repaired and must be discarded. The cleaning agent used by our company is a neutral cleaner; its cleaning principle is based on similarity and compatibility, ensuring that the quality of cleaning is maintained without any risk of corrosion to the equipment, At the same time it also achieves a high level of cleanliness. When our company carried out cleaning for this client, we first connected the equipment to be cleaned to the circulation pump and circulation tank using a low-inflow, high-outflow setup. The cleaning solution was added to the circulation tank, and the pump was started to allow the cleaning agent to flow into the equipment and circulate within it. After the cleaning agent returned, the equipment was immersed in it for over 3 hours; thereafter, the cleaning agent was circulated again. This process was repeated until 24 hours had passed, at which point the cleaning was complete. An air compressor was used to remove any remaining residues from the spiral plate heat exchanger, and after ensuring that no impurities remained, the equipment was put back into operation. Data collected 7 days after use showed that the heat exchange efficiency of this heat exchanger met all the requirements of the production process, thereby saving the client a significant amount of money. This earned the client’s trust as well as praise from the management.
