How is the oxygen flow rate in the gasification furnace controlled during startup? No flow control valve?
Shell’s oxygen pipelines are equipped with flow control valves, right? The methods used to establish the oxygen flow rate for Shell’s dry coal powder and water-coal slurry processes are different: in the case of water-coal slurry, the oxygen flow rate is set first through venting before feeding starts, while for Shell’s dry coal powder, the flow control valve is adjusted to the specified setting before feeding begins, without establishing an oxygen venting flow rate in advance. The recommended opening degree for the oxygen flow control valve is specified in the process package or design documents.
I’m talking about the ignition burner, not the coal-fired burner…
The oxygen pipeline of the Shell burner does not have a flow control valve; the combustion condition is adjusted by controlling the diesel flow based on the oxygen-to-diesel ratio.
