For a 1-million-ton coking crude benzene recovery unit that uses coal tar washing oil for absorption, what is an appropriate amount of washing oil required for circulation?
It depends on the coal blend; the benzene content in the gas should generally be at near-saturation levels
For 1 million tons of coking, there is approximately 50,000 m3 of gas per hour. Assuming that 1 m3 of gas requires 1.6–1.8 L of washing liquid for circulation, the circulation volume is around 80–90 m3/h. An appropriate circulation volume should be selected based on actual conditions such as the benzene content in the gas after the tower and the processing capacity of the equipment. The oil washing cycle volume can be slightly higher in summer than in winter

It is determined based on the processing capacity of the benzene removal tower and the spray density required by the benzene washing tower; for our plant with a production capacity of 1.3 million tons, the circulation rate is controlled at 95–100. The benzene washing towers operate in series, allowing the benzene content after the towers to be kept below 1 g/m3
The gas production rate is approximately 55,000 m3 per hour, and a oil washing circulation rate of around 100 m3/h is considered reasonable.
