The R-GAS gasifier project includes process units such as coal powder preparation, gasification system, and syngas washing and treatment, as well as over 10 system components including the pulverized coal feeding system, natural gas ignition system, and cooling circuit system. It features advanced process technology and a high level of technological sophistication. At the project site, the experts checked everything one by one, fearing any oversight. “The purpose of our trip is to work together with Huayang Group on the preparations for igniting the R-GAS gasifier, and the progress so far has been quite smooth. We are also deeply impressed to see how serious and meticulous the technicians here are. ”said Alvaro Rodriguez, a process engineer at the U.S. Gas Technology Institute responsible for the ignition modules. “I am the systems engineer for the R-GAS gasification furnace project, responsible for the entire process, from data collection to the system architecture design. My main task this time is to test all the CNC modules. At the project site, American experts not only got their hands dirty themselves but also worked together with the local technical personnel. “We had a detailed discussion on the principles of pulverized coal transportation, coal gasification technology, and the combustion process within the furnace. ”Geng Wenjie, deputy head of the R-GAS project construction leadership team, said, “We will exchange feedback with them on our suggestions, so as to adjust and optimize the project in a timely manner and ensure that ignition is achieved as soon as possible.” ” From last year until March this year, due to the pandemic, experts from the U.S. Gas Technology Institute were unable to visit the site; therefore, technical discussions were carried out via video conferences and emails. The DCS data collected on-site was sent by the American experts across the ocean, where the backend team at the institute conducted real-time data analysis and provided guidance for further adjustments. Following online discussions between experts and the group’s technical staff, as well as on-site adjustments, the R-GAS gasifier is now ready for use.
