Date: February 11, 2022 Clicks: 22 As of February 9, Unit B of Qianxi Chemical’s gasification plant had been operating continuously for 200 days, setting a new record for the longest consecutive period of operational excellence at one gasification unit within the company. Focusing on the stable operation of the gasification furnace, and addressing the challenge of efficiently gasifying local coal with high carbon content, high ash content, high sulfur content, and low calorific value as well as low moisture content, the gasification plant actively identified the factors that hindered the stable operation of the furnace, and continuously worked on technical improvements to overcome various technical bottlenecks and challenges. At the same time, the gasification plant strives to keep up with industry best practices. Through daily optimizations, weekly analyses, and monthly summaries, it prepares reports on the collection and analysis of data related to abnormal operating conditions. It strengthens the management of coal quality used in the furnace as well as the risk assessment and control associated with changes in coal types. The plant also carries out preventive maintenance on key equipment, implements lean management strategies for cost control, addresses bottleneck issues, and establishes a standardized preventive system. All these efforts help to improve the overall stability of the gasification furnace’s operation, thereby laying a solid foundation for the steady and long-term full-capacity operation of the gasification unit. It is reported that since its operation, Gasification Unit B has focused on extending the period of stable operation of the facility, optimizing and adjusting the system, paying close attention to safety, process, and equipment management, as well as strengthening on-site inspections to promptly eliminate potential equipment issues. This approach ensures the stability of various operational parameters of the facility, laying a solid foundation for its long-term, safe, and stable operation. The total investment for Qianxi Coal Chemical’s ethylene glycol project is approximately 5.45 billion yuan, of which the investment in the gasification unit is about 720 million yuan; this unit is equipped with 3 2800/3200-type space furnaces. Using local anthracite as the raw material coal, products such as ethylene glycol are produced through a series of processes. After the project is implemented, in addition to an annual production of 300,000 tons of ethylene glycol, it will also be possible to produce 41,200 tons of sulfuric acid, 432 tons of fore-run, 8,992 tons of fusel oil, 13,440 tons of light fractions, 6,048 tons of heavy fractions, 5,336 tons of DMO reconstituted fractions, and 17,576 tons of crude DMC. The 300,000 tons per year coal-based ethylene glycol production project in Qianxi was invested and constructed by Henan Energy and Chemical Group. The project began operations in the Qianxi County Economic Development Zone in March 2011; it is one of the key coal chemical projects designated by Guizhou Province, as well as one of the key coal chemical projects identified by Bijie City. The project is overall contracted by Donghua Technology, with the main process being the technology for producing ethylene glycol from high-chemical CTEG syngas.
