There are mainly three routes by which productive toxins enter the human body: (1) the respiratory tract. The respiratory tract is the most common and primary route of transmission. Any occupational toxicant that exists in the form of gas, vapor, dust, smoke, or mist can enter the human body through the respiratory tract if proper protection is not in place. The entire respiratory tract of the human body can absorb toxins. (2) Skin. The skin is one of the pathways through which certain toxins enter the body. Toxins can be absorbed into the bloodstream through the pores of the skin and sebaceous sweat glands, which do not cause damage to the skin. (3) Digestive tract. In a production environment, poisoning resulting solely from absorption through the digestive tract is relatively rare; it usually occurs when hands are contaminated with toxins and then used to handle food, allowing the toxins to enter the digestive tract along with the food. For example, when manually packaging pesticides such as Bichong, it may lead to the absorption of toxins through the digestive tract.
