What are the downstream products of dimethyl ether? What projects can be carried out for a 100,000-ton dimethyl ether plant?
Dimethyl carbonate, acetic acid, and acetic anhydride are produced via carbonylation reactions; formaldehyde is obtained through oxidation reactions; and dimethyl ethylene glycol is produced via oxidative coupling reactions
It’s better to use dimethyl ether in gasoline; the downstream products don’t generate much profit.
Some other companies use dimethyl ether to produce ethanol, with methyl acetate as the intermediate product.
