Recent news indicates that the first phase of the chemical energy project invested by China National Reserve Energy & Chemical Group and Guoneng Emerging Energy Group in Tuyou Banner, Baotou City, Inner Mongolia, has entered the full equipment installation stage. The project involves an investment of over 10 billion yuan and is located in the Shangejia Chemical Industry Park within the New Industrial Park in Tuyou Banner, Baotou City, covering an area of more than 1,000 mu. The supporting facilities include: Huitteng Energy’s 600,000-ton coal-to-ethylene glycol project, United Energy’s annual 720,000-ton liquefied natural gas production project, and the United Equipment modern coal chemical equipment manufacturing base. The 50,000-ton polyglycolic acid resin project is under development, as is the coal-to-gas project. It is reported that in the first week of 2018, China National Storage Energy & Chemical Group Co., Ltd. invested an additional 200 million yuan in the 600,000-ton coal-based ethylene glycol project under its subsidiary Inner Mongolia Huiteng Energy Co., Ltd., thereby providing more funding for the project’s construction and facilitating its rapid development. The total investment in Huiting Energy’s ethylene glycol project is 8.89 billion yuan, with a production capacity of 600,000 tons of ethylene glycol per year. The project is being constructed in two phases. The first phase requires an investment of over 4 billion yuan, and it is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in 2018. The main facilities include coal conveying systems, boilers, air separation units, pulverized coal gasification units, syngas conversion units, and methanol washing units. At present, the civil engineering work and equipment foundations for all these main facilities have been completed, creating the conditions necessary for equipment installation. The first phase of the project has been under construction for two years now. The procurement of large-scale equipment has been completed, and it has been transported to the site where installation is in progress. Seventy percent of the civil engineering work has been finished. However, due to the significant increase in prices of key materials such as steel and cement in the second half of last year, the original budget is no longer sufficient to meet the requirements of the project’s construction. To ensure high-quality construction and the successful completion of the project, China National Storage Energy & Chemical Group attaches great importance to this project. It sent management personnel to the site to investigate and assess the equipment procurement, construction progress, and equipment installation status. After careful consideration, it was decided to allocate an additional 200 million yuan in funding to ensure the smooth progress of the project. All the main equipment for gasification, such as the gasifier, coal powder feed tank, coal lock, and ash lock, has arrived on site and will be lifted this month. The 2 converter units and 9 methanol scrubbers have also been delivered to the site, with lifting to take place in the near future. Since the methanol washing unit is one of the larger-scale components in the entire construction process, both the height and weight of its single tower exceed those of conventional equipment, which poses significant challenges for installation. The total height of the tower is 88 meters; to facilitate transportation, it needs to be delivered to the site in 4 sections before being assembled. The installation of just one tower takes 20 days. The foundation for the plant building and the storage tanks for United Energy’s project with an annual production capacity of 720,000 tons of liquefied natural gas have been completed. Currently, work is underway on welding the 20,000-cubic-meter storage tanks; the construction of these tanks represents the most time-consuming and challenging aspect of this project. Therefore, work did not stop during winter either; instead, reliable winter construction measures were adopted to continue the work. Completion of production is expected by August, after which it can be put into use.
