Author/Source: Date: 2018-02-01 Clicks: 2 The Zhongtian Hechuang Ordos Coal Chemical Project is a world-class large-scale coal-chemical complex jointly developed by Sinopec Corporation, China National Coal Energy Group Corporation, Shenneng (Group) Co., Ltd., and Inner Mongolia Manshi Coal Group Company. The main entity behind this project is Zhongtian Hechuang Energy Co., Ltd., which was established by these four companies together. The project utilizes the S-MTO technology developed through a collaboration between Sinopec Refining & Chemical Engineering and PetroChina Co., Ltd. The total production capacity of the chemical engineering design is 3.6 million tons per year of methanol (an intermediate product), as well as 1.37 million tons per year of polyethylene and polypropylene plastic products. On April 27, 2017, the tubular polyethylene plant was successfully commissioned with a single batch of feed. On August 6, 2017, the batch-type polyethylene plant was also successfully commissioned with a single batch of feed. In July 2017, the project entered full commercial operation. At 12:56 on August 16, 2017, the MTO unit No. 1 was successfully fed with methanol. At 20:25 on August 16, 2017, the cold separation unit of the olefin separation plant produced qualified ethylene product. The main raw materials used are ethylene, butylene, or hexene. Full-density polyethylene resins with a density range of 916–965 kg/m3 can be produced. The products are applicable to areas such as films, hollow blow molding, injection molding, monofilaments, pipes, and cables.
