As of March 13, the methanol production unit at Yueneng Chemical had been running steadily without interruptions for more than 558 days since it was restarted after maintenance in September 2016. Meanwhile, the synthetic catalyst used when the plant was first put into operation in July 2014 has been in use for over 43 months; it has enabled the production of nearly 5.8139 million tons of methanol, achieving the best performance among similar plants in China. According to the relevant officials at the Methanol Center, in order to ensure stable and high-level production, the center has taken measures such as refining the on-site inspection system, strengthening the management of process parameters and alarm interlocks, improving work procedures, and establishing an assessment system for shift workers, which has led to a significant improvement in the level of production operation management. In October 2017, the gasification unit began to use kerosene along with refinery residues in its operations; this brought the total number of feedstocks to five – coal, oil residues, heavy oil, natural gas, and DCC hydrogen-rich gas – thereby further enhancing the advantages of material diversity and economic benefits. In addition, the methanol center actively carries out technical research and minor improvements. In particular, the air coolers in air separation and synthesis units are equipped with a spray cooling system, which effectively solves the problem of insufficient cooling capacity when external temperatures are high, thereby preventing the units from having to reduce their operational load. It is reported that in 2018, the center will earnestly implement the requirements set forth at the company’s work meeting. With the goal of \"ensuring the high-load, long-term operation of equipment and effectively improving overall management levels,\" and focusing on \"meeting the annual economic targets and achieving ISRS Level 6 standards,\" it will strengthen production operation management, optimize relevant process parameters, enhance professional management capabilities, and promote refined management practices, so as to make greater contributions to the company’s efforts to \"catch up, surpass others, and achieve excellence.\"
