Why is there carbon dioxide when the catalyst is deactivated? During the passivation of a catalyst in a 300,000-ton methanol plant, the carbon dioxide concentration in the recycle gas reached 2%.
This indicates that there may be wax accumulation in the catalyst, or that the wax accumulated in the equipment pipes has not been completely removed, leading to oxidation during passivation
Wax is present after the water cooler, and the passivation temperature does not affect the area behind the water cooler.
