On January 18, 2024, China Overseas Chemical released an announcement regarding the procurement plan for the preparation of a proposal for the biomass gasification-based green methanol production project in Beihai, Guangxi. The validity period of this announcement is from (January 18, 2024) to (January 24, 2023). During this period, system users interested in participating in the procurement package can submit feedback in the group company’s procurement system. CNOOC Chemical Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as CNOOC Chemical) is a chemical enterprise that integrates the exploration and development of upstream oil and gas resources, with its core business focusing on the advanced processing of abundant natural gas resources rich in carbon dioxide. After extensive consultations and research, the viable routes for producing green methanol in the short to medium term are biomass gasification – methanol production from syngas, biomass gasification – methanol production coupled with green hydrogen, and methanol production via biogas reforming. The availability of biomass resources as well as wind and solar energy varies from region to region, which directly influences the choice of processes for green methanol production. The production of green methanol imposes strict requirements regarding carbon emissions throughout its entire life cycle.
