Commissioning of the air compressor unit in Qianxi Chemical’s ethylene glycol project Author/Source: Date: 2018-04-18 Clicks: 13 At 11:17 on April 14, the turbine of the air compressor unit in Qianxi Chemical’s ethylene glycol project began to spin up, marking the official start of the commissioning process. By 14:21, the turbine had reached its operating speed, and the air compressor unit started operating under load; all parameters such as vibration, temperature, and shaft displacement were within normal ranges. This marks the successful joint commissioning of Qianxi Chemical’s first large-scale compressor air compression unit. The air compressor unit is the largest power equipment in an air separation plant, as well as its key component; it consists of a turbine, an air compressor, and an air booster, and requires high levels of operational expertise. The successful joint commissioning of the air compressor unit indicates that the commissioning of Qianxi Chemical’s coal-based ethylene glycol air separation system has been largely successful. This lays a solid foundation for the subsequent steps, such as cooling the cold box of the air separation unit and starting up the entire facility in full, and it signals the start of the commissioning phase for Qianxi Chemical’s entire project. The joint commissioning of air compressor units is a key focus of Qianxi Chemical in recent times. Despite various challenges such as a shortage of staff and incomplete or insufficient drawings, the company’s specialized teams worked hard to overcome these obstacles. They maintained an proactive approach by communicating closely with the manufacturers’ technical staff and the construction teams, took initiative in solving problems on their own, and thus ensured the successful commissioning of the equipment. Link: The 300,000 tons per year coal-to-ethylene glycol project of Qianxi Coal Chemical is located in Qianxi County, Guizhou Province. This project was invested and constructed by Henan Energy and Chemical Group. The total investment in the gasification facility is approximately 720 million yuan, with 3 2800/3200-type space furnaces provided as supporting equipment. The main process for this project employs the CTEG high-chemical complex technology for producing ethylene glycol from syngas. Donghua Yuan is the general contractor for this project. Upon implementation of the project, an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons of ethylene glycol will be achieved. In addition, it will also be possible to produce 41,200 tons of sulfuric acid per year, 432 tons of fractionates, 8,992 tons of fusel oils, 13,440 tons of light fractions, 6,048 tons of heavy fractions, 5,336 tons of DMO reconstituted fractions, and 17,576 tons of crude DMC.
