Review of the basic design documents for the utility systems in the Shanjiao Feihong 1 million tons/year coke oven gas-to-methanol conversion project. Author/Source: Huahua Network – Coal Chemicals. Date: 2018-10-08. Views: 108. Recently, an internal review of the basic design documents related to the utility systems for this project was carried out. It is reported that the basic design documents for utility systems that require internal review this time mainly include: design documents for the plant’s tank areas and loading/unloading platforms, the comprehensive pump house and circulating water station, wastewater treatment and spent alkali solution treatment, reclaimed water reuse and crystallization evaporation, the plant’s flares, auxiliary production facilities, the overall plant system engineering, service facilities, as well as budget estimates. The Public Utilities and Auxiliary Systems Department conducts the review work in strict accordance with the requirements of the \"Review and Planning Plan for the Design Documents of the Shanjiao Feihong Foundation Project.\" It also relies on unified project regulations and professional standards, as well as documents and specifications such as SHSG-033-2008 \"Requirements for the Design Content of Foundations for Petrochemical Plants,\" design foundations, and the overall plant water balance diagram. A comprehensive assessment is carried out regarding the technical quality, compliance, cost-effectiveness, consistency, and completeness of the finalized design documents for the public utilities foundations. Any issues identified are compiled into a set of review comments by the department, which are then sent to the design unit for further improvement. Previously, Feihong Chemical Co., Ltd., affiliated with Shanxi Coking Coal Group, had convened review meetings for the basic design of the gasification, air separation, synthesis, purification, and DMTO combined unit (OCU unit) of the 1 million tons per year methanol production project using coke oven gas. The successful completion of the foundation design review meetings for each facility has laid a solid foundation for the subsequent EPC contracting of the project. Shan Jiao Fei Hong Company plans to invest 6.89 billion yuan to carry out a comprehensive renovation project for converting coking plant gas into methanol, to be built on the north side of Shanxi Coking’s existing coking plant facilities, in line with the overall layout of the approved 600,000 tons per year olefin production project. Using the existing coke oven gas from Shanxi Coking as raw material, along with a certain proportion of coal-derived gas, this project aims to build a new methanol plant with an annual production capacity of 1 million tons. It will also supply synthetic feed gas to Shanxi Coking’s existing 300,000-ton-per-year methanol plant. Additionally, liquefied natural gas (LNG), sulfur, and sulfuric acid will be produced as by-products, thereby achieving comprehensive utilization of coke oven gas and multiple product outputs. The site of the 600,000 tons per year methanol-to-olefins project owned by Shanxi Coking Coal Group Feihong Chemical Co., Ltd. is located within the Hongtong Zhaocheng Fine Coal Chemical Industry Park in Shanxi Province, to the north of the existing coking facilities. The production capacity of this facility is 600,000 tons per year of olefins, 300,000 tons per year of polyethylene, and 300,000 tons per year of polypropylene. The main construction components of the project include: 6 major production units such as an 1.8 million tons/year methanol-to-olefins plant, a 600,000 tons/year olefins separation plant, a C4 comprehensive utilization plant (for olefin conversion and MTBE/1-butene production), a 300,000 tons/year polyethylene plant, and a 400,000 tons/year polypropylene plant; as well as 10 auxiliary facilities including a power station, circulating water systems, tank areas, and products storage and transportation systems.
