Review Meeting for 60% Scale Model of Methanol Complex in Yulin Energy Chemical Plant Held Author/Source: Date: 2018-12-25 Clicks: 4 Recently, a review meeting for the 60% scale model of the methanol complex in Yulin Energy Chemical Plant, which was constructed under the company’s EPC contract, was held in Xi’an. This review will last for two weeks, focusing on key processes in the plant such as gasification, conversion, low-temperature methanol washing, sulfur recovery, and methanol synthesis distillation. The methanol complex is the largest complex in our company’s general contracting scope, comprising 12 main process units and 13 auxiliary units. The process route starts with bulk coal storage, and proceeds through gasification, shift reaction, purification, steam reforming to methanol synthesis and distillation, including sulfur recovery and a refrigeration station. After 4 months of detailed design, the 60% model review was carried out 1 month ahead of schedule. The participants will provide optimization suggestions for the model from the perspectives of design safety, rational layout, and operability, covering various specialties such as process engineering, piping, equipment, general layout, electrical systems, instrumentation, water supply and drainage, HVAC, architecture, and structure. The 60% model review is the most important milestone in the project modeling process, as it enables a clear presentation of the project model at an initial stage. It also indicates that the design work has entered the detailed design phase, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent procurement of steel structure and piping materials. The completion project for the first phase of Yulin Energy Chemical Complex is a key initiative aimed at implementing the requirements set by the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government to \"enhance the demonstration effect of the comprehensive utilization projects for coal, oil, and gas resources in Jingbian\", as well as the goals of Yan’an Petroleum Group regarding \"changing development models and adjusting industrial structures\". With an investment of 14.413 billion yuan, this project will use coal and natural gas as raw materials to build integrated facilities capable of producing 1.8 million tons per year of methanol, 600,000 tons per year of methanol-to-olefins products, 400,000 tons per year of polypropylene, and 300,000 tons per year of low-density polyethylene/Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate copolymer (LDPE/EVA). The project is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in 2020, at which time Yueneng Chemical’s polyolefin production capacity will increase to 1.8 million tons per year.
