Copper catalysts are used for hydrogen production via methanol cracking, and as it has not been in use for a long time, it is suspected that the catalysts have been oxidized. At that time, the manufacturer said that it was possible to use methanol for regeneration on one’s own, and the ratio of methanol to water during regeneration was different from that used in hydrogen production. It’s been too long, so I’ve forgotten this ratio. Has any fellow sailor come across it? Could you let me know what this ratio is during regeneration?
When one molecule of methanol is cracked into one molecule of CO + 2H2, does adding water during reduction not promote the formation of CO2? Catalyst reduction of CO2 is either not an effective component or a harmful one. Are you sure you want to add water? In normal production, water is added in the appropriate ratio to enable the CO that has been separated to continue undergoing conversion reactions to produce H2. You’d better look up some information on this and find the original driving records. Personally, I think no water is needed in this reduction process; it’s a pure reduction process. The reduction reaction releases a large amount of heat, and the transformation reaction also releases a lot of heat – so isn’t there a risk of overheating?

The alcohol-to-water ratio should be maintained at 1:50. It is essential to use nitrogen to raise the temperature first, to ensure that superheated steam enters the reaction tower.
