Hydrogen sulfide is a colorless gas with a smell similar to rotten eggs; its molecular weight is 34.08, its specific gravity is 1.19, its melting point is -82.9°C, and its boiling point is -61.8°C. It is soluble in water, has a self-ignition temperature of 260°C, and is explosive, with an explosion limit of 4–45%. The maximum allowable concentration of hydrogen sulfide in the air shall not exceed 10 mg/m3.
