On February 12, Dow and Johnson Matthey announced that the 300,000-ton per year butanol production facility at Hua Yi New Materials Co., Ltd.’s integrated chemical materials plant in Qinzhou would use the LP OxoSELECTOR™ 10 technology. The Huayi Qinzhou Phase II project, which involves the integrated production of 750,000 tons of propylene and its downstream products, requires an investment of 872,644 million yuan. The main components of this project include facilities for producing 750,000 tons per year of propylene via propane dehydrogenation (PDH), 300,000 tons per year of butanol, 400,000 tons per year of acrylic acid and its esters, 80,000 tons per year of methyl methacrylate (MMA), 180,000 tons per year of phenol, 180,000 tons per year of bisphenol A, and 200,000 tons per year of polycarbonate, along with related supporting facilities. “Our technology licensing and catalyst business will continue to be an important platform for Dow’s long-term business growth,” said Donna Babcock, Director of the High-Performance Intermediates business unit in Dow’s Industrial Solutions segment. “We are honored that Hua Yi has chosen our LP OxoSELECTOR™10 technology for its new butanol facility in China.
