At 9 a.m. on February 13, Jiutai Energy’s 600,000-ton-per-year olefin plant in the Dalu Industrial Park in Inner Mongolia began the transition to polypropylene fiber production, and this transition was completed successfully within 12 hours. At present, the facility is operating stably, capable of producing nearly 1,000 tons of fiber products per day. The epidemic is an order; prevention and control are responsibilities. To assist in epidemic prevention and control and alleviate the severe shortage of medical supplies such as medical masks, protective clothing, and gloves, Jutai Energy overcame challenges such as tight deadlines, heavy tasks, and difficulties in switching production lines, and promptly carried out the conversion of its polypropylene production facility; it is now operating at full capacity. In addition to polypropylene products, butadiene, a by-product produced by Jutai Energy, is also a key raw material for manufacturing disposable rubber protective gloves. While ensuring comprehensive pandemic prevention and control, it is necessary to focus on work related to safety in production; we have a responsibility to fulfill our duties in this regard, and we must go all out to support the supply and availability of medical protective equipment for pandemic prevention and control. “Due to the coal supply issues, our current load is 60%, and it remains stable. 1,200 tons of polypropylene and polyethylene products are produced daily, with 400 tons of by-products sent to Hebei. If returning to work in the next step, strict isolation and testing must be carried out; only after passing the isolation tests can we resume work. The overall operation is relatively stable; aside from a 40% reduction in load, everything else is operating steadily. ”Zhang Xujun, deputy general manager of Jiutai Group, said. Jiutai’s project with an annual production capacity of 600,000 tons of olefins (280,000 tons of polyethylene and 320,000 tons of polypropylene) is a downstream extension of Jiutai’s project with an annual production capacity of 1 million tons of coal-based methanol. With a total investment of 8.28 billion yuan and covering an area of 1,045 mu, the project utilizes UOP’s technology for producing low-carbon olefins from methanol, KBR’s pre-propanation separation technology, and Dow Chemical’s UNIPOL polypropylene technology. On March 20, 2019, Jutai Energy’s 600,000-ton olefin project was officially put into operation.
