Discussion on the floating roof issue in methanol storage tanks: The material used in the past was aluminum, but now stainless steel is required.
The inner floating roof is made of aluminum, and corrosion has occurred in some companies.
Currently, stainless steel is required – why?
GB50160-2018 requires that: 1. When internal floating roof storage tanks with a single tank volume of 5000 m3 or less use floating disks made of fusible materials, safety measures such as nitrogen protection shall be implemented； 2. Internal floating roof storage tanks with a single tank volume of more than 5000 m3 should use steel single-disc or double-disc floating roofs ；
The methanol internal floating roof in our plant is made of SS304L, for your reference.
It’s made of stainless steel, and it has a square box structure.
