Why is the gas generation rate in the drum always greater than the water supply volume?

I earnestly ask some expert to clarify why the gas generation volume in the methanol synthesis drum is always greater than the amount of water added. Logically, there should be less gas generated than water added, due to losses from waste discharge. Doesn’t one ton of steam equal one ton of water????
There’s a problem with your steam flow meter; the flow rate is too high! ! !
There’s actually no need to discuss such issues at all; water doesn’t appear out of thin air, so there must be a serious problem with the measurement.
There is a high probability of inaccurate measurement; could there be some leakage?
