5.2 billion yuan project for biomass gasification to produce 300,000 tons of green methanol in Jixi, Heilongjiang approved

According to International Energy Network, on February 23, the 300,000-ton green methanol project in Jixi, Heilongjiang was approved. It is reported that the developer of this project is Zongneng Township Dianhailai (Jidong County) New Fuel Co., Ltd., which plans to invest 5.2 billion yuan to build a plant for producing 300,000 tons of green methanol. This project involves the construction of a 300,000-ton green methanol plant. The electricity comes from wind farms and green electricity on the grid; biomass gasification provides a carbon source for methanol synthesis, while biomass gasification together with water electrolysis for hydrogen production supplies hydrogen for methanol synthesis. It is worth noting that since 2023, 10 green hydrogen projects have been approved in Heilongjiang, 8 of which plan to use green hydrogen in combination with biomass to produce green methanol. Regarding Zongneng Township Dian Hanghai (Jidong County) New Fuel Co., Ltd.: Zongneng Township Dian is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Beijing Township Dian Electric Power Co., Ltd. Beijing Xiangdian Electric Power Co., Ltd. was established in January 2001. Its headquarters is located in the Haidian Park, the core area of the Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park. The company is a high-tech enterprise in Zhongguancun as well as an innovative enterprise in Haidian District; it is also a **high-tech enterprise.
