Safety distance: The safety distance between methanol storage tanks, methanol filling units, and vent openings and any buildings or structures outside the station should not be less than the requirements specified in relevant regulations. 2. Selection of equipment and materials: Storage tanks: Methanol storage tanks should have a double-layer design, with the inner tank being made of steel; they must be installed underground and must not be placed in indoor areas or basements. The manholes, oil gauges, and quick disconnects for unloading oil in storage tanks should have a waterproof design and provide good sealing. Filling machine: Methanol filling machines should be equipped with a vapor recovery system. Metal materials such as aluminum alloy and zinc alloy should be avoided for components; seals should be made of materials suitable for methanol fuel, and filling hoses should be constructed from materials resistant to methanol fuel. Pipelines: Non-metallic materials should not be used for process pipelines, and non-metallic fittings must be made of materials resistant to methanol fuel. Other equipment: including safety shut-off valves, level gauges, pressure gauges, ventilation systems, fire suppression systems, etc., should all be made of materials suitable for methanol fuel. 3. Safety facilities – Fire-fighting equipment: For every 2 methanol filling units, there should be at least 2 4-kilogram portable dry powder fire extinguishers, or 1 4-kilogram portable dry powder fire extinguisher together with 1 6-liter water-resistant foam fire extinguisher. Emergency protective equipment: Eye wash stations should be provided, along with goggles, corrosion-resistant gloves, etc. Safety warning signs: Clear safety warning signs should be installed within the station. Leak emergency response equipment: Equipped with necessary leak emergency response equipment. 4. Seepage prevention and explosion protection: Seepage prevention measures for methanol fuel storage tanks shall be implemented in accordance with relevant regulations. Double-layer methanol storage tanks should be equipped with testing instruments or other facilities to monitor for leaks in the space between the inner and outer tanks. Explosion-proof device: An explosion-proof device should be installed in the methanol storage tank of the methanol fuel skid-mounted filling unit. The barrier and explosion-proof material installed in the methanol storage tank of the methanol fuel skid-mounted filling unit should be made of a material resistant to corrosion by methanol fuel. 5. Other precautions: Clear labeling: All equipment related to methanol fuel in jointly built methanol fuel filling stations, including methanol fillers, unloading ports, valves, pipes, etc., should be clearly labeled. Separate installation: When converting a car fueling station to include methanol fuel filling capabilities, the modified methanol fuel system should be installed separately. No self-service refueling function: Methanol fuel stations should not have a self-service refueling option.
