A demonstration project for the production of green methanol through the local utilization of new energy sources has been established in Danzhou, Hainan. CIMC Green Energy Low-Carbon Technology (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. (referred to as “CIMC Green Energy”) together with Datang (Danzhou) Marine Energy Development Co., Ltd., which is part of Datang Hainan Company, signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Yangpu Economic Development Zone Management Committee of the Danzhou government. The three parties aim to jointly develop a comprehensive industrial chain for green methanol production in Danzhou, Hainan Province. Under the terms of the agreement, CIMC Enrico will work with Datang Hainan Company in Danzhou to develop and implement a pilot project for the production of green methanol through the local utilization of new energy sources, with a designed production capacity of 100,000 to 200,000 tons per year. In addition, the three parties will also promote industrial cooperation in green methanol in Hainan, covering various aspects such as production, certification, trade, and refueling, in order to jointly explore the high-value utilization of biomass and the development of relevant supply chains. It is reported that China’s first commercial biomass methanol project – the CIMC Green Energy 50,000-ton/year demonstration plant for producing green methanol through biomass gasification – was officially put into operation on December 16 in Zhanjiang, Guangdong. The second phase of this project, with an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons, has seen the signing of an investment agreement with the local government this month.
