The Yangtze River’s first chemical tanker powered entirely by methanol, the “Yuanyang 9802”, was successfully delivered

On the 6th of the month, the single-methanol-powered chemical tanker \"Yuanhai 9802\", for which the China Classification Society (CCS) was responsible for the design review and construction inspection, was successfully delivered. This marks substantial progress in the green transformation of inland waterway transportation, and it also injects new momentum into the industrial development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. “The “Yuanhai 9802” is a ship specifically designed for the transportation of hazardous chemicals on the Yangtze River. With a length of 109.98 meters and a range of 4,000 kilometers, it is suitable for transporting hazardous chemicals along all routes on the Yangtze River main channel, and it has been awarded the CCS “Green Ship-2” additional certification. Equipped with an advanced single-methanol fuel main engine, this vessel has obtained China’s first type approval certificate and emission certificate for diesel micro-injection-fired single-methanol fuel engines; it overcomes technical challenges such as low-temperature cold start and high-pressure precise injection, enabling it to meet the requirements of frequent load changes during operation in complex inland waterways. The ship is equipped with an intelligent methanol fuel system to ensure the safety of fuel storage and supply, while its modular design helps reduce operational costs. The ship boasts excellent overall safety, environmental protection, efficiency, and economic performance, providing replicable and scalable practical experience for the green transformation of inland waterway shipping, and demonstrating the application value of new clean fuels in the field of inland waterway vessels. In the future, the Chongqing branch will continue to leverage its technical advantages and rely on its strong technical service capabilities to provide strong support for the green transformation and sustainable, high-quality development of inland waterway shipping.
