Commissioning of the dual-column coupled distillation reform for the methanol dehydration tower at Qianxi Chemical Industry

According to Qianxi Chemical, on April 23, 2026, the key energy-saving renovation project of Qianxi Chemical – the reform of the methanol dehydration tower using a dual-tower coupled distillation system – was successfully commissioned on the first attempt. The plant operated stably, all process parameters met the design specifications, and the purity of the methanol product was within acceptable limits. This project is expected to reduce steam consumption in the methanol dehydration system by over 40%. Qianxi Chemical’s coupled distillation technology is an energy-saving upgrade for existing DMO synthesis-related aqueous waste treatment systems. It utilizes a dual-tower coupled distillation approach, by adding a pressurized tower and modifying the existing atmospheric-pressure tower, to enable hierarchical utilization of thermal energy and reduce steam consumption. Guizhou Donghua Engineering Co., Ltd. undertook the design subcontracting work for this project.
