With the newly approved 800,000-ton project of Yangkou Port, Jiangsu currently has four major projects in its hands.: 1. Lanze Dafeng Port Annual Production of 300,000 tons of Green Methanol Project This project is a major project in Jiangsu Province in 2026. It has been approved by the Provincial Development and Reform Commission (Su Fa Gai Neng Shen [2025] No. 115) and was also selected for 2025. * * The first batch of green liquid fuel technology research and industrialization pilot projects are the only selected projects in the province. The total investment of the project is 2.67 billion yuan, covering an area of ​​492 acres, with a planned annual output of 300,000 tons of green methanol. In terms of technical path, the project does not follow the conventional green electricity hydrogen production route. Instead, it uses agricultural straw as raw material and adopts the world's first professional production device for biomass gasification to produce methanol. It uses green electricity and green steam throughout the process to achieve a zero-carbon closed loop "from field to cabin". The technology relies on high-performance catalysts and independent intellectual property rights technology developed by the Shanghai Institute of Advanced Studies of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to convert rice, wheat and other straw into green methanol through gasification, purification, synthesis and other processes. After the project is completed, it can consume 1.3 million tons of local biomass waste such as straw every year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.5 million tons. In terms of project construction, the transportation section of the master plan has been fully started, and all long-term equipment has been purchased. The pile foundation project is expected to be completed by the end of March 2026. The project will be fully completed by the end of 2026, and it is planned to be officially put into production in the first half of 2027. In February 2026, 90% of the model review of the project's air separation unit was successfully completed, marking that the project design work has entered the final stage. The project has reached procurement intentions with international shipping giants such as Maersk, CMA CGM, and COSCO Shipping Lines, and will provide a basic guarantee for the construction of a 3 million-ton green methanol bunkering port in Shanghai Port. 2. Sinochem Yueda Binhai Annual Production of 1 Million Ton Green Methanol Project This project is invested and constructed by Sinochem Yueda (Jiangsu) New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (Yueda Investment holds 40% of the shares), with a total investment of approximately 11 billion yuan. It is located in the Coastal Industrial Park of Yancheng Binhai Economic Development Zone and is constructed in three phases.: The first phase is 200,000 tons, the second phase is 200,000 tons, and the third phase is 600,000 tons. The project was approved by the Provincial Development and Reform Commission in April 2025, and the energy assessment was approved (Su Fa Gai Neng Shen [2025] No. 44). The foundation treatment project of the first phase of the 200,000-ton project has won the bid and started construction. In terms of technical route, the project uses biomass pellets as raw materials to produce green methanol through gasification, synthesis and other processes, and supports the construction of a biomass pellet project with an annual output of 2.25 million tons, aiming to form a complete industrial chain from raw material collection and storage, processing to methanol production. The project directly benefits from the EU's carbon border adjustment mechanism - starting from 2026, shipping vessels entering the EU will face a carbon tax. As the most feasible clean shipping fuel at present, green methanol has huge market demand. This project is an important part of Yueda Investment's efforts as a local state-owned enterprise to implement the construction of Yancheng's green and low-carbon development demonstration zone. In-depth cooperation with central enterprises has brought strong support from technology and management experience. 3. LONGi Green Energy’s Ganyu annual production of 180,000 tons of green methanol project. The project was officially signed in November 2025. It was selected into the list of major projects in Jiangsu Province in January 2026. On January 29, 2026, the enterprise investment project registration was approved. The total investment of the project is about 3 billion yuan, covering an area of ​​about 430 acres. It is planned to produce 180,000 tons of green methanol annually. It is planned to be completed and put into production in July 2027. The investment entities are diverse, and it is jointly invested and constructed by Longi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (51% shareholding), Jiangsu Zhongsheng New Energy Holdings Co., Ltd. (34% shareholding), and Jiangsu Lianyungang Port Logistics Holdings Co., Ltd. (15% shareholding). In terms of technology, pure oxygen pressurized fluidized bed biomass gasification technology jointly developed by the three parties is adopted. This technology has been successfully piloted in June 2025. The operating pressure is >1.0MPa, the daily processing capacity is >100 tons, the tar content is nearly zero, and the continuous The continuous stable operation time exceeds 168 hours, the carbon conversion rate reaches 95%-98%, and the trial burning of more than ten kinds of raw materials has been completed. The adaptability and conversion efficiency of different biomass raw materials have reached the domestic and international advanced levels, and it has the conditions for industrialization. The project anchors the "double carbon" goal and builds a closed loop of the entire industrial chain of "wind and solar green power - biomass utilization - green chemicals - port logistics", focusing on the resource utilization of waste oil, straw and other non-food biomass in surrounding areas, turning straw and other biomass into "zero-carbon fuel". After the project reaches full production, it will solve the problem of straw waste disposal for about 1.2 million acres of local farmers every year, and is expected to increase farmers' income by more than 300 million yuan. ； It is predicted that the annual economic benefit will be more than 2 billion yuan, creating about 1,600 local jobs.
