State Energy plans to undergo technological transformation to resume production of 300,000 tons of methanol from Xinsheng Coal Chemical Industry

In May 2026, Guizhou Shuicheng Economic Development Zone made the first public announcement of the environmental impact assessment of the 300,000 tons/year methanol technical transformation and production resumption comprehensive utilization project of Guizhou Energy Shuicheng Xinsheng Coal Chemical Industry. According to public information, Guizhou Energy Shuicheng Coal, Electricity and Chemical Integration Co., Ltd. plans to implement technical transformation and resume production of the 300,000 tons/year methanol unit of the original Guizhou Xinsheng Coal Chemical Co., Ltd. The construction content mainly includes transformation, synthesis, distillation, air separation, etc. The source of the indicator is the 300,000 tons/year methanol unit of the original Guizhou Xinsheng Coal Chemical Co., Ltd. Guizhou Xinsheng Coal Chemical Co., Ltd. of Shuicheng Mining Group uses multi-element slurry gasification, low-temperature methanol washing, and low-pressure methanol synthesis to produce 300,000 tons of methanol. Trial production started in 2014. The refractory brick structure of the multi-element slurry gasifier is not suitable for coal types with high ash melting points in Guizhou. After passing the environmental protection acceptance in 2016, Guizhou Xinsheng has been discontinued. In 2023, Guizhou Energy Shuicheng Coal, Electricity and Chemical Integration Co., Ltd. will build a 2 million tons/year circular economy comprehensive utilization coal coking project at the original site of Guizhou Xinsheng Coal Chemical Project.
