Towngas will build a new 200,000-ton/year green methanol production base. VENEX, a joint venture of Hong Kong and China Gas, will build a new production base in Datang Town, Sanshui, Foshan, Guangdong. The first phase of the new plant is expected to be put into operation in 2028, with an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons. The project uses advanced biomass gasification technology and uses bagasse and wood processing waste, which are common in South China, as the main raw materials. If the original base in Inner Mongolia is taken into account, the group's total annual green methanol production capacity will reach 500,000 tons. The new factory in Foshan is located in Foshan (Sanshui) New Materials Industrial Park, covering an area of ​​about 311 acres. The project uses advanced biomass gasification technology, using bagasse and wood processing waste common in South China as the main raw materials, and converts it into green methanol through four major processes: "raw material pretreatment, biomass gasification, synthesis gas adjustment, and methanol synthesis". Towngas stated that the new base and VENEX's Inner Mongolia plant have the same technology to make good use of local sustainable resources, forming a dual-base production layout of "one south and one north". When the Foshan project is put into operation, it will complement the production capacity in the north and use Guangdong's geographical advantages to connect to the global green fuel supply chain.
