Recently, the 400,000-ton-per-year bioenergy project, jointly invested in by Beijing Sanyu Environmental Protection New Materials Co., Ltd. and Juxian State-owned Capital Holding Group Co., Ltd. in Juxian County, Rizhao City, Shandong Province, successfully completed all stages of its operation and began producing qualified oil products, marking the first successful commissioning of the project and a significant milestone achieved. Sanju Environmental Protection has taken another solid step forward on its path toward transforming into a company focused on green energy and green chemicals. With the transition from old to new drivers of economic growth, Shandong gains new momentum. The Sanju Bioenergy project in Shandong fully meets the province’s requirements for transformation and upgrading, as well as for phasing out excess production capacity and high-energy-consuming industries. It falls under the category of projects that are encouraged according to the **Guidance Catalogue for Industrial Structure Adjustment**. The total construction area is 360,000 square meters, and the project includes facilities such as biological raw material pretreatment units, a biofuel hydrogenation plant with an annual capacity of 400,000 tons, hydrogen production equipment, sewage treatment systems, tank areas, and various auxiliary infrastructure for loading and unloading. This project utilizes the advanced biofuel production technology owned entirely by Sanju Environmental Protection, which features complete independent intellectual property rights. It uses waste animal and plant oils such as palmitic acidified oil, rancid oil, gutter oil, sewage oil, and wood tar to produce new types of clean bioenergy products such as second-generation biodiesel. Based on the existing diesel and gasoline hybrid hydrogenation unit, Sanju Environmental Protection modified and optimized the reactor as well as certain parts of the process flow by integrating the suspended-bed technology from Hebi Huashi. It also installed systems for raw material pretreatment, separation, and purification, thereby improving the utilization rate of raw materials and by-products as well as the recovery rate of the main products. Once the project is brought online, Shandong Sanju Bioenergy Co., Ltd. will have a biofuel production capacity of 400,000 tons per year. It will become the largest bioenergy producer in the country, as well as a demonstration area for green energy strategies and carbon emission reduction efforts. This will contribute to the innovative development of the new energy industry in Shandong Province and to the transition toward new forms of economic activity. Overcoming challenges to create high-quality industries: As the largest domestic project for second-generation biofuels, and also as the ‘top priority project’ for Sanju Environmental Protection in accelerating the transformation and upgrading of its green energy industry, the Shandong Sanju Bioenergy Project has received significant attention and strong support from the relevant authorities in Rizhao City and Ju County. Leaders of the Rizhao Municipal Party Committee and Government have visited the construction site on multiple occasions, putting forward specific requirements regarding the safety of construction work and trial production, and urging the Ju County Party Committee and Government to make every effort to advance the project’s development. On August 13, 2020, the Ju County Party Committee held a special meeting to designate the Shandong Sanju project as the top priority project in the county; it committed its greatest efforts, resources, and efficiency, as well as its fullest determination, to providing proper support in order to ensure the smooth progress of this project. In February 2021, Shandong Sanju moved from the project construction phase to the critical stage of commissioning and testing. All members of the project team, upholding the spirit of \"not fearing hardship, being willing to endure it, and daring to overcome challenges,\" as well as \"doing practical work, seeking tangible results, and creating high-quality industries,\" are steadily advancing the testing process. On March 12, the project was officially put into operation. After several days of continuous operation, the facility achieved stable production, excellent product quality, and good yields. At present, various process parameters are under further adjustment. The company will continue to optimize operations and gradually increase the production load, striving to achieve full capacity utilization of the facility as soon as possible, all while ensuring safe operation. Biomass fuels are internationally recognized as renewable clean energy sources. As a major energy consumer, our country’s apparent consumption of refined oil has exceeded 300 million tons per year. It is evident that the development and promotion of biofuels are of great significance in reducing dependence on fossil fuels, protecting the ecological environment, and achieving low-carbon sustainable development. The production process adopted in Shandong Sanju Bioenergy Project is advanced and rational, the product quality is excellent, it meets the requirements for the development of clean and low-carbon energy sources, and it possesses significant value as an engineering model. The full commissioning of this project is in line with the company’s development strategy and overall interests. It facilitates the company’s further expansion of production capacity and enhances its competitive strength, thereby laying a foundation for the company’s sustainable development, the implementation of a regional integrated green development strategy, and the creation of a first-class domestic bioenergy industry base.
