We currently have a 7.5kw motor rated at 380V50HZ, but the voltage at the site is 440V50HZ. If I change the connection from delta to star, what will be the new rated power? What will the rated current be? Motor nameplate: 380/660, Delta/Y, 7.5kw, 15.7A
Changing from corner connection to star connection – doesn’t that reduce the current at the cost of increased power consumption?
Based on the conditions you provided of 7.5 KW and 380 V, the power factor is calculated to be 0.7. After changing it to star connection and applying a 440V voltage, the motor’s power is approximately 5.6 KW, with a phase current of 10.5 A.
The rated voltage and rated current are reduced to 1/3
