Indeed, the regulation states that pump motors are rotating equipment, but if I install a metal rain cover above the motor, can that rain cover be used as a lightning conductor?

If motors or rain covers can be used as lightning rods, it is best to avoid using separate lightning rods; after all, directing lightning down is also an uncertain factor. More importantly, this approach allows for savings in terms of the space required for the lightning rods and the associated costs
I think a rain cover would work, but it should meet the requirements regarding materials as specified in GB50057 – such as thickness, down conductors – and it must also be securely connected to the metal storage tank.

50650 actually doesn’t have any ambiguity; since it is stated that electrical installations should be protected from direct lightning strikes, it is obvious that the components of electrical equipment cannot be exposed to such strikes. As for the rain cover, it’s something that doesn’t have a strict definition, I guess. The rain cover you made to meet the specifications of the lightning receptor can certainly be used as a lightning receptor~ But I’m still curious: how much does this motor need to protrude for it to require separate lightning protection? By how much is it higher than the surrounding railings? Could you provide a photo or sketch so I can take a look?
