We see that the electrical rooms in residential buildings are often locked. Although it’s not clear what mandatory requirements the regulations specify, it’s easy to understand from common sense that locking the device is meant to prevent unauthorized persons from opening it and causing electric shock accidents. But can the power distribution room inside the factory be locked? Are there any mandatory regulatory requirements? Given the special nature of the factory premises, only those with appropriate safety skills are allowed to enter. As a result, the risk of unauthorized persons entering is basically **reduced**, and locking the doors in such circumstances actually undermines emergency response capabilities. But it’s hard to prevent some operators from risking going to the power distribution room to sleep in. While there is no rule stating that doors cannot be locked, Article 4.3.2 of the \"Code for Design of Low-Voltage Distribution Systems\" GB50054-2011 specifies that two exits should be provided for passages longer than 7 meters. Although the reason behind this requirement is not clearly stated, it can be inferred that it is intended to allow people to escape in case of a fire or similar incident by using the nearest exit; this, in turn, implies that doors cannot be locked. I’m not sure if my analysis is correct or not.

The analysis seems reasonable, but it is illogical. If there is someone inside, it must not be locked, so how can it be conducive to escaping?
Thank you for the reply. But this is also only a standard for thermal power generation enterprises, though it can be used as a reference. In fact, a solution already exists: simply add a magnetic access card. For emergency purposes, an escape button that can be pressed to cut off power can also be added; having this will be sufficient to provide protection.
Does the power distribution room not comply with electrical standards? What standards should be followed? Whether or not there is a own power plant, the standards followed in the distribution room are mostly electrical standards

Why bother locking the door when there’s someone in the room? If there’s no one in the room, it’s definitely necessary to lock it!
