Due to their proximity to the production workshops, safety inspections have revealed that the factory’s switchrooms need to be renovated; consequently, both switchrooms must be relocated. They contain a total of 80 cabinets of various sizes, primarily low-voltage power cabinets, frequency converters, and soft starters. These cabinets serve approximately 600 motors on site. Now, 80 cabinets need to be moved to a safe area, and wires must be drawn from the new power distribution room to connect with the existing cables. Should the connections be made directly using electrical tape, or through explosion-proof junction boxes for centralized connection? Are there any other safe, reliable, and practical solutions? Please ask an expert for guidance.

The distance between the switchgear room and the production facilities is too short, indicating that the switchgear room is located in an area with explosion hazards. When relocating the switchgear room and making connections to the cables, explosion-proof joints must be used. Over time, however, such joints are prone to failures; therefore, it would be better to lay new cables instead.
It’s probably because it doesn’t meet the fire safety regulations; replacing the cables entirely is too costly. Perhaps it would be better to consider using a transfer box instead

Cable connections are not allowed in areas prone to explosions; outside such areas, the cost of intermediate connections is indeed lower, but maintenance becomes a **painful task**. The key point is: after adding the connector, can you still ensure that the cable voltage drop meets the equipment’s operating requirements when the cable length is increased?
Can an explosion-proof positive-pressure ventilation booth be installed on-site? Throw all the distribution cabinets into the cabin
It is not feasible to set up explosion-proof positive-pressure ventilation booths on site; placing the distribution cabinets inside such booths makes it impossible to carry out inspections and routine maintenance during normal operation. Once the doors and windows are opened, there will be a blowout!
During last year’s inspection, corrective measures were proposed; positive pressure ventilation was approved and has since been implemented. However, this year’s inspection reversed that decision, stating that positive pressure ventilation is not acceptable and that relocation is the only option.
