During the use of sulfided CoMo-based hydrogenation catalysts, a certain concentration of hydrogen sulfide in the atmosphere is usually required to maintain stable activity. What is the principle by which hydrogen sulfide provides protection? Is there a relationship between catalyst activity and hydrogen sulfide concentration? Thank you
It is necessary to clarify under what circumstances hydrogen sulfide is introduced; during the operation of a normal catalyst, the hydrogen sulfide content in the circulating hydrogen needs to be controlled, as too low a hydrogen sulfide level can cause the catalyst to be reduced. Typically, during the use of hydrogenation catalysts, it is necessary to maintain a certain amount of hydrogen sulfide in the circulating hydrogen, in order to prevent hydrogen from reducing the catalyst to its elemental form under high temperatures, thereby causing the catalyst to become inactive. There are requirements for the hydrogen sulfide concentration under normal production conditions. Our requirement is to ensure a steady supply of fresh feed and no significant changes in the temperature difference across the reactor bed; generally, the concentration of recycled hydrogen after desulfurization is kept between 500 and 1000 PPM.
