When the hydrogenation unit has oil in the hot hydrogen stream, does the emergency cooling hydrogen line need to be shut off in order to increase the amount of hydrogen in the oil circuit?
As long as the bed temperature does not exceed the limit, the cold hydrogen line can be turned off.
Turn off; if the cold hydrogen leakage is high, it will affect the density of the catalyst bed
What impact will density have? I thought it was just to increase the amount of gas used for purging the oil circuit when shutting it down
Cyclic hydrogen passes through the heating furnace and reactor in the largest quantity.
Under normal circumstances, the hot hydrogen carrying oil should be circulated in its entirety, which means shutting off the large bypass; of course, the cold hydrogen should also be shut off, so that all of the circulating hydrogen passes through the reactor to carry the oil. But we haven’t done it this way here; it’s always at the normal operating level. Only when I’m at work do I ask to increase the circulation rate, but it’s not to full capacity. I’m worried that such a high rate might have an impact on the catalyst. My main concern is that full circulation could significantly lower the temperature at the furnace outlet, as well as the temperature in the reactor, which might affect the efficiency of the reaction. Increasing the amount of fuel gas could end up being counterproductive.
I think it should be when the heating furnace is operating at full capacity (i.e., when the furnace temperature reaches the designed level), that we should increase the circulation rate as much as possible while keeping the temperature at the furnace outlet constant. The temperature of the hot hydrogen mixed with oil in our case is 400°C; I’m not sure what it is in your area
What’s the effect at 400°C? Will it be severely reduced?
