Are disc spring gaskets used for high-pressure hydrogenation flanges? How effective is it?
We have a disc spring here that is subject to high stress; the operating pressure is around 15 Mpa. The material used for the inlet part of this disc spring is Mubler, and it’s made of Inconel 718. It hasn’t been in use for long yet, but the flange has started leaking again.

I’ve never used them before; these days, for high-temperature and high-pressure applications, Grayloc flanges are being used – they are self-tightening flanges, and the higher the pressure, the better the sealing effect.
We have used it; the operating pressure is 100 kilograms, the temperature is 370°C, it is located at the outlet of the hydrogenation reactor, and its size is M72. The performance so far is good.
