During the catalyst replacement as part of the coal tar hydrogenation overhaul, it was found that there were 2-4 mm thick deposits on the inner wall of the reactor inlet pipeline. The liquid on the reactor inlet distributor plate was quite dirty, appearing black-gray in color; it could be easily blown away using nitrogen. May I ask experts what these deposits are and how they form.
Can the lumps also be blown away with nitrogen? Is it because the inlet temperature is too high, causing premature coking?
