China Chemical News: On January 26, the fourth session of the 13th Fujian Provincial Political Consultative Conference opened in Fuzhou. Zheng Nanfeng, a member of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that taking into account Fujian’s various advantages in developing the hydrogen energy industry, he will submit proposals at this conference such as those calling for support in building Pingtan into a zero-carbon hydrogen energy demonstration island, and for establishing a regional technology transfer and innovation center with Fujian’s characteristics – a marine hydrogen energy sub-center – in order to offer suggestions for the development of this industry. Zheng Nanfeng said that amid the wave of green transformation, vigorously developing the hydrogen energy industry has become a major strategy for China to drive profound changes in its energy structure, foster new forms of productive capacity, and promote sustainable development. “Developing the hydrogen energy industry can not only effectively reduce China’s dependence on imported oil and gas and ensure energy security, but also provide strong support for achieving the ‘dual carbon’ goals and creating new drivers of economic growth in future industries. ”Zheng Nanfeng said that hydrogen energy can also be converted into green liquid fuels, providing a new strategic approach to overcoming the current energy challenges. In Zheng Nanfeng’s view, Fujian has many advantages in developing the hydrogen energy industry. Fujian benefits from the **\"narrow-channel effect\" resources of the strait, coupled with the research capabilities of institutions such as Xiamen University and Fuzhou University, as well as the industrial strengths of leading enterprises like Fujian Energy and Chemical Group. This has resulted in a relatively complete system for integration of industry, academia, research, and application. At the same time, with the strong attention and coordinated efforts of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government, the development of Fujian’s hydrogen energy industry has progressed steadily, giving rise to an industrial ecosystem that covers a variety of application areas such as transportation, energy storage, and industry.
