In a hydrogen heating furnace, why is smoking occurring when the fuel gas manual valve is turned down?
Smoking indicates an insufficient oxygen content; check whether there are any changes in the composition of the feed gas, and whether the dampers and other controls are functioning properly
Smoking is essentially due to incomplete combustion. The solution is usually to provide either large air valves or some steam for smoke suppression
Air provides the wind, and oil provides the steam.
