Dear experts, please help answer this
Amine solution is used to absorb hydrogen sulfide. The amine solution that has absorbed hydrogen sulfide is called rich amine solution; once hydrogen sulfide is regenerated from this solution, it becomes poor amine solution. For the proper operation of the amine solution system, high-quality make-up water is essential, as any pollutants or additives can accumulate in the system and lead to a decline in the performance of the amine solution, as well as instability and foaming. Using high-quality deionized water as make-up water can meet the requirements for conductivity as well as pH value. It can provide considerable stabilization for the amine solution.
The lean amine solution is composed of water and MDEA, with the water content typically being around 70%
During absorption and regeneration, some of the water in the amine solution is carried away by the purge gas and acidic gases, resulting in a decrease in the amine solution concentration. Maintaining a stable amine solution concentration is important for the desulfurization regeneration system; therefore, it is necessary to continuously add water. Demineralized water contains fewer impurities, which helps to reduce foaming in the amine solution. When replenishing demineralized water intermittently, it is necessary to use a drain to replace the demineralized water and remove any impurities from the pipes before introducing new water into the system.
