I would like to ask everyone: For a 1m3 methanol intermediate tank operating at atmospheric pressure, with only a vent valve installed on the top, is this setup reasonable and compliant? Thank you.
It’s quite reasonable. For the intermediate storage tank, pressure control is sufficient.
Thank you for your answer. Given the toxicity of methanol and the presence of methanol vapor in the exhaust gas from the vent valve, should inert protection measures such as a nitrogen sealing system also be considered? ? No regulatory requirements were seen either.

According to GB50483, the exhaust gas emitted by the breathing valve of small methanol tanks must be sent to the exhaust treatment system; In terms of safety, to prevent air from entering when the methanol level drops and creating an explosive environment, a nitrogen sealing system must be installed; the nitrogen that is released also needs to be sent to the exhaust gas treatment system. Adding the grounding and static discharge bonding when leaving the facility constitutes a fully compliant approach.
Nitrogen sealing combined with instrument-based range control is a good approach; this prevents air from entering the storage tank as the liquid level changes.
A small square jar – a breathing valve together with a nitrogen seal should be sufficient, right?
