The periodic increases may be caused by excessive oil in the system, which leads to severe foaming of the amine solution as well as significant liquid carryover in the circulating hydrogen; otherwise, there would be no need to shut down the desulfurization tower in order to remove the liquid. It might be advisable to drain oil from the desulfurization tower every few days, or whenever oil accumulation occurs. Another possibility is that the downstream devices for liquid removal operate periodically, carrying out adjustments such as closing boundary valves; a leak in the liquid removal valve can also cause the aforementioned phenomenon. For the analysis of the rich liquid, measures such as monitoring changes in the oil level in the desulfurization tower and adjusting the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet were taken, with further observation continuing.
There are no abnormalities in the purity of the new hydrogen, while the purity of the recycled hydrogen does show significant variations. The demister screen can only be inspected when the machine is shut down.
It may be that the amount of lean amine solution is too high, or there is light oil in the circulating hydrogen, which causes instability in the operation of the desulfurization tower. You can slightly increase the cross-flow in the desulfurization tower to adjust the amount of lean solution.
