Recently, the People’s Government of Nanhai District in Foshan, together with Sinopec Guangzhou Engineering Company and two other parties, signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement for the “Hydrogen Energy R&D and Application Project”. The four parties to the agreement are: Sinopec Guangzhou Engineering Co., Ltd., Shaanxi Xinjin Ruishengyuan Energy Technology Co., Ltd., HuiRong (Guangzhou) Equity Investment Fund Management Co., Ltd., and the People’s Government of Nanhai District, Foshan. Through cooperation among these four parties, the framework agreement aims to leverage their respective strengths in order to establish a demonstration facility for a new technology for producing hydrogen from coal using supercritical water, characterized by cleanliness, low carbon emissions, high efficiency, and low costs, in Nanhai District. This technology was developed by Guo Liejin, a professor at Xi’an Jiaotong University and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Sinopec Guangzhou Engineering Co., Ltd. is responsible for the development and application of the engineering transformation techniques related to this technology.
At present, Nanhai District in Foshan, Guangdong, is making great efforts to develop a complete industrial chain for hydrogen energy, covering research and development, production, storage, transportation, and application, with its efforts leading the country in these areas. The signing of this framework agreement plays a positive role in helping the Nanhai District become an internationally renowned hub for the research and development of autonomous hydrogen energy technologies, a cluster for high-end hydrogen energy industries, and a model area for an advanced hydrogen energy society, thereby promoting the commercialization of the hydrogen energy industry.
