Selection of gasket materials for the cylinder head cover of the fresh hydrogen compressor in residue hydrogenation

In the residue hydrogenation unit, the new hydrogen compressor uses three-stage compression: the outlet pressure is 5 MPa at the first stage, 9 MPa at the second stage, and 18 MPa at the third stage. The medium used is 99.99% pure hydrogen. Currently, the gasket used for the cylinder head cover is made of 10# steel, and leaks in the cylinder head cover have occurred during operation. The solution adopted has been to tighten the connections with excessive torque; however, it has now been found that indentations are present on the sealing surfaces. We are considering changing the material of the gasket to annealed copper or aluminum. Do anyone have any good experiences or suggestions? Thank you.
I feel the same! Does \"suspect\" refer to the outlet flange? If it is an octagonal gasket for flanges, 10-grade steel is absolutely the correct choice; it’s impossible to use a different material!
There are gaskets; they’re all made of 10# steel
