According to Sinochem New Network, at the 2026 International Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Industry Exhibition held from March 25 to 27 at the **Conference Center in Beijing, Evonik showcased its latest technological achievements in the field of green hydrogen, and unveiled globally for the first time its next-generation core component for green hydrogen electrolysis: the DURAION wide-width anion exchange membrane. It is reported that this product can be used for hydrogen production via alkaline anion exchange electrolysis (AEM), and it features high efficiency, durability, and the ability to be produced on a large scale. It possesses high ionic conductivity, maintains excellent chemical stability and mechanical properties in corrosive media, and also features key characteristics such as low swelling rate and low hydrogen permeability. DURAION also supports customized catalyst and ink formulations, and can be applied to scalable printing processes. During the exhibition, Evonik unveiled the newly upgraded wide-format DURAION AEM membrane for the first time worldwide. Following the expansion of the product’s film width to 50 centimeters in 2025, this series will see its width increased further to 1 meter in 2026, marking a key step forward in the industrialization and large-scale production of AEM electrolyzed water technology. Zhang Jinhong, Vice President and General Manager of Evonik’s High-Performance Polymers business unit for the Asia-Pacific region, said: “The launch of the wide-format AEM membrane represents not only an advancement in terms of product capabilities, but also a crucial milestone as AEM electrolysis systems move toward industrialization and large-scale production.” In the future, we will work together with industry partners to promote the application of AEM technology in large-scale green hydrogen projects. ”
