Dear colleagues: Our company uses Hefeng Company’s Super Claus sulfur recovery process, and we are now faced with the need to replace the catalysts. Original catalysts from abroad are too expensive, so we are considering using domestic alternatives. Currently, there are very few manufacturers capable of producing such catalysts; Shandong Xunda is one of them. Do any of you have any successful experiences or recommendations for manufacturers? Domestic sulfur recovery catalyst technology is now quite mature. By adopting an appropriate strategy for catalyst loading, including the proper combination of catalysts and the sequence in which they are loaded, it is possible to reduce costs, extend the service life of the catalysts, and improve efficiency.
Hahaha, one must definitely consider the thickness of the loading layer, the sequence, and the compatibility, as the loading amount specified in the original process package is determined by taking into account both the properties of the feed gas and those of the catalyst. Therefore, it is advisable to conduct research and analysis on the reactor size, gas flow rate, pressure drop, and catalyst efficiency.

If cost allows, it is recommended to opt for imported ones. Our Hefeng Chaoke catalysts have been in use for 12 years without many problems; domestic catalysts likely last only about 3 years

In my opinion: 1. In terms of catalysts, the sulfur production catalysts and low-temperature hydrogenation catalysts developed by Qilu Keli have reached international advanced levels, or even exceed them. Based on practical operation experience in industrial plants, by using a proper combination of the titanium-based catalyst LS-981G and the alumina-based catalyst LS-02, the conversion rate in the Claus process can reach 97% ; 2. During the catalyst loading process, it is essential to follow the catalyst loading procedure strictly, paying special attention to even spreading of the catalyst and preventing workers from stepping on it; this plays an important role in avoiding uneven distribution of the catalyst and ensuring its full activity ; 3. Increase the operational rate of the ratio control circuit, monitor the quality of the acid gas upstream, and strictly keep the temperature of the reaction furnace within the specified range; this can effectively prevent contamination of the catalyst bed caused by catalyst carbon deposition, ammonium salt blockages, and other issues ;
