On the morning of March 31, acidic gas was introduced into the company’s newly built 150,000 tons per year sulfur recovery unit; the entire process was operational, and qualified products were produced successfully, with all flue gases meeting the required emission standards. It marks the successful commissioning of the sulfur recovery unit with the largest single-unit processing capacity among domestic refining and chemical enterprises. The newly built 150,000 tons per year sulfur recovery unit is a key environmental protection facility as part of the project to restructure, improve, and upgrade the existing refining operations at Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Co., Ltd. The investment in this facility amounted to nearly 300 million yuan, and it was completed on December 29, 2018. With the strong support of the relevant departments within the company, the commissioning team overcame various challenges such as a limited number of staff, tight deadlines, poor weather conditions, and heavy workload. By organizing tasks carefully, optimizing the commissioning process, and following the trial operation plan strictly, they successfully completed all the preparatory work within nearly three months – including pipeline purging, pressure testing for airtightness, and catalyst installation – thus achieving the desired goal of a successful commissioning process that was both safe and environmentally friendly. At present, the concentration of sulfur dioxide emitted in the flue gas from this sulfur processing unit is well below the **standard. Since its operation began, Zhenhai Refining & Chemical’s sulfur recovery capacity has increased by 44.1%, laying a solid environmental foundation for the company to become a \"world-class green petrochemical hub\".
