During the technician’s defense, the chief examiner asked a question: What would happen if a piece of iron fell into the sulfur production furnace? Dear experienced teachers, please help answer this question. Thank you:handshake
I guess asking the question was also on a whim. At high temperatures, the iron block melts, and then it is sulfided and oxidized. The furnace is so big; what impact could it possibly have?
In this situation, there is only one possibility: either the device was not thoroughly purged during the cleaning process, or residual iron fragments remained from the welding process. In such cases, the sulfur seals should be cleaned up promptly; this is just my personal opinion, and it may not be correct.
It seems to be related to the fire-resistant substrate in some way
If the lining is damaged, it will cause corrosion of the equipment itself
Iron melts at high temperatures, which can cause damage to the lining; this has been encountered during equipment maintenance.
